How does LCL shipping work?
Cargo that will become part of an LCL consolidation are packed, palletized and picked-up at the factory. The shipment is then trucked to a warehouse/storage facility where it is consolidated into a shipping container, together with cargo for multiple clients. Sorting and delivery of cargo to destination(s) occurs upon arrival at the destination port and distribution facility.

Types of LCL shipping
Palletized LCL
Palletized LCL shipping entails securing and shipping product after stacking and wrapping onto pallets. This is the most common way to ship palletized cargo.
Loose-loaded LCL
Loose-loaded LCL shipping refers to transporting shipments without pallets. While secure stacking of the cargo occurs, extra handling may cause damage. We recommend palletized LCL shipping for customers who are most concerned about the safety of their cargo
When should you consider using LCL shipments?
•For shipments up to 15 CBM
LCL shipping makes sense only for a cargo approximately up-to 15 CBM (cubic meters) and weight less than up-to 10 tons. Most consolidators will charge for a minimum CBM. Therefore, your shipment can be charged for the minimum CBM as per the consolidators decision.
•When the shipment is last-minute
Even though LCL shipping costs can be a bit higher in comparison with full container load costing, it is better to secure LCL shipping space during times of equipment scarcity in port of loadings and when times of port congestions.
